FLOSPORTS UNEILS NEXT PHASE OF COMPANY EVOLUTION FOCUSED ON CHANGING THE GAME FOR THE ATHLETES, EVENTS AND FANS
Formerly Flocasts, Austin-based sports media and events entity built by athletes, for athletes positioned for strong growth
AUSTIN, Texas (March 11, 2015) – Flocasts announced today that the company is re-launching as FloSports as it enters the next phase of its evolution. The move follows a period of continued growth and expansion highlighted by a $8 million investment from Causeway Media Partners, a leading investment fund focused on sports media, entertainment and related companies.
“Our goal is to be the authentic source for content and a new world of coverage that fans crave,” said Martin Floreani, CEO & co-founder of FloSports. “The change in name to FloSports is a natural evolution for our company and we look to go deeper into our current verticals across track and field, wrestling, gymnastics and elite fitness and enter new sports in 2015.”
FloSports provides a broad offering of on-demand content and live streaming broadcasts, authentic editorial coverage, and owned and operated events that showcase the best athletes in the world for fans that love the games.
Live Competition and Coverage
FloSports owns exclusive broadcast rights to in-demand events including elite fitness competitions, track meets, wrestling matches and more. The company broadcasts more than 25,000 hours of live sporting events each year – equivalent to covering the entire professional football season more than 32 times. This includes featuring live performances from more than 20,000 individual athletes each year, more than the professional basketball, hockey and football leagues combined.
“We target the passionate fan that can’t consume enough authentic content about the sports they are most passionate about,” said FloSports Chief Operating Officer and co-founder Mark Floreani. “FloSports will continue to elevate athletes from the youth level to professionals with a new world of coverage, creating celebrities and headliners within their sports.”
Complementing live competition broadcasts, FloSports features an unmatched depth of coverage across sports from elite athletes to college athletes, youth to the pros. The company’s editorial team goes deep within each of verticals, and track every stage of the competitive cycle from youth to pros.
Original Content
FloSports takes the veneer off sports content to make viewers feel the sweat. The company currently has more than 980,000 original produced videos in its library, delivering high quality content to fuel viewers’ passions, the likes of which can’t be found anywhere else.
“FloSports has been bringing authentic and inspiring content to viewers for years. From the high school runner to the Olympian, FloSports brings their stories, workouts, and voices to the viewer,” said Olympian Kara Goucher. “FloSports remains a positive community that highlights the love and passion behind sport.”
FloSports features the #1 webcasts per sport, high-quality, in-depth original series, and is the definitive athlete rankings authority, with 5M+ athletes ranked historically.
Owned and Operated Events
As a leader in sports content, FloSports is naturally and uniquely positioned to hold athletic competitions. FloSports repackages sports to deliver a bigger impact for athletes and change the way fans consume the games they love.
Among the highest profile events put on by FloSports is Who’s #1, which annually brings the top off-season performers in wrestling from across the U.S for an unparalleled showcase featuring can’t miss match-ups in front of a capacity crowd.
“FloSports has been great for the sport of wrestling. In depth coverage, analysis and personalities they bring to the sport are refreshing and long overdue,” said Brian Smith the head wrestling coach at University of Missouri, the #1 ranked team in the nation. “The exposure they give wrestling is like nothing we have ever had before. Their tireless dedication and passion for the sport shows in everything they do.”
FloSports received significant attention for hosting the first-ever Beer Mile World Championships in 2014. The highly anticipated event, held in Austin, TX, saw the setting of a new world record. The Beer Mile will return in 2015.
Growth and the Future
FloSports experienced 45% year-over-year growth in unique visitors from 2013 to 2014, and expects continued growth in their existing verticals as well as expansion into new sports. The company expects their audience to exceed 10 million unique visitors per month in 2015.
