Addition of WCHA Women’s League includes playoffs and championships, all exclusively on FloHockey.tv
AUSTIN, Texas — August 1, 2018 — Today, FloSports, the innovator in live digital sports and original content, announced a multiyear deal with the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) to live stream every game hosted by the WCHA Women’s League exclusively on FloHockey.tv. The news follows FloSports’ recent announcement to live stream every WCHA Men’s League game on FloHockey.tv. Through the deal, FloSports will now carry more than 260 WCHA games annually on its OTT platform.
Between FloSports’ agreements with the WCHA and a recent deal with the Big Ten Network to distribute non-televised ice hockey events, FloHockey is now the premiere platform for women’s collegiate hockey.
The WCHA Women’s League Division I conference consists of seven institutions: Bemidji State, Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, Ohio State, St. Cloud State, and Wisconsin. Celebrating its 20th anniversary season, the WCHA begins its schedule in September, and will conclude with the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff on March 9-10. With this agreement and existing Big Ten-affiliated games, FloHockey will carry 84 WCHA conference games, 44 non-conference or exhibition contests, and as many as 12 playoff games.
“The addition of the WCHA Women’s League games is very exciting, and this gives fans the ability to watch one of the most established college conferences in the U.S.,” FloSports SVP, Rights and Acquisition Strategy Adam Fenn said. “The deal also speaks to a larger trend in the industry, with more rights holders expediting their move to OTT as cord-cutting continues to increase. FloHockey is now the top provider for women’s college hockey, and we look forward to adding even more games in the future.”
“We are thrilled to add women’s hockey to our partnership with FloSports,” WCHA Vice President and Women’s League Commissioner Katie Million said. “The synergy with FloSports allows us to bring all the amazing hockey played in the WCHA – across each of our seven schools – to our fans in a way never before possible. We are looking forward to working with the FloSports team to give all WCHA fans – both Men’s League and Women’s League – around the world a new and exciting way to follow our league.”
