AUSTIN, Texas — June 17, 2019 — Today, FloSports, the innovator in live digital sports and original content, and the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced an agreement to host the first FloBowling PBA ATX Invite. Live and on-demand coverage of the event will air on FloBowling.com. With this partnership, the PBA national tour will return to Austin for the first time since 2000, bringing the best bowlers in the world together to compete in a head-to-head bracket tournament for one day only.
On Saturday, Sept. 21, eight of the PBA Tour’s highest-ranked bowlers will compete for a total of $67,000 in prize money, provided by FloSports, at Dart Bowl Bowling Center in Austin, Texas. The top PBA professionals from the Summer Tour based on the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Cup standings earn an invitation to the event. The event entails a head-to-head single elimination bracket with the final match incorporating a best-of-three games format. The winner will take home $25,000. In addition to the live competition, FloBowling will provide fans with exclusive content and coverage leading up to the event as well as post-event recaps.
“The first year of the PBA’s partnership with FloSports to create FloBowling has been a tremendous step toward bringing more great professional bowling to more people in new ways,” PBA Commissioner and CEO Tom Clark said. “FloBowling has enabled the PBA to envision and create a full national Summer Tour and having it culminate in an exciting new special event in Austin where FloSports is headquartered is icing on the cake. Through the partnership, fans will be able to watch nine PBA Summer Tour events from start-to-finish live on FloBowling, and with the top eight players in points throughout that summer schedule earning the right to compete at the inaugural ATX Invite, it will be another highlight to a tremendous 2019 GoBowling! PBA Tour.”
“Through our partnership with the PBA, we are able to think innovatively and creatively to bring the league back to Austin for the first time in almost 20 years,” FloSports SVP of Global Rights Acquisition Phil Wendler said. “Fans around the world now have access to behind-the-scenes content covering the entire PBA season as well as exclusive player interviews, rankings, techniques, and features that we plan to expand on as we move ahead.”
