Partnership Adds 17 Universities to FloCollege Portfolio
AUSTIN, TX (Aug. 13, 2024) – FloSports and the Lone Star Conference (LSC), one of the largest NCAA Division II conferences in the country, have entered into an exclusive five-year, media rights agreement beginning this fall. Through the agreement, FloSports will represent the LSC and its 17 member institutions, providing a global platform to live stream events and support the teams, universities, and student-athletes with a robust content engine across the web and social. The LSC’s addition to FloSports represents the 12th conference to join the launch of the new FloCollege platform debuting this October.
Boasting 81 NCAA team national championships, the LSC is one of the most formidable Division II conferences in the nation and tied as the largest in the division. The league, which was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Richardson, Texas, spans three states (Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma). It is comprised of Angelo State, Cameron, DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward’s, St. Mary’s, Sul Ross State, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Woman’s, UT Permian Basin, UT Tyler, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico. UT Dallas is set to join the LSC in the 2025-26 academic year. Central Washington and Western Oregon are football affiliates.
FloSports will deliver more than 1,500 regular season and LSC postseason events, including men’s and women’s conference championship events, starting in the 2024 season. The sports represented in the agreement include football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and men’s and women’s soccer.
Games will be made available for live and on-demand viewing and supported by an original content slate, including social media programming highlighting the many student-athletes who compete in the LSC.
FloSports offers both a yearly and monthly subscription option for the service that will provide a cost saving for LSC fans in comparison to the Lone Star Conference Digital Network pricing. Additional discounts will be provided to users with an .edu email address. For more information and to subscribe, visit the LSC’s FloSports homepage.
One hundred percent of the revenue generated from this partnership will be reinvested into LSC member institutions. The agreement promises to foster equitable broadcast production standards and further enhance the quality of coverage across all sports, ensuring parity and inclusivity.
“We are thrilled to partner with FloSports on the largest media rights deal in NCAA Division II history,” LSC Commissioner Jay Poerner said. “All the credit goes to the leadership of our member institutions for their vision to be innovative, continually grow our digital presence and provide the best possible platform to highlight our outstanding student-athletes. Partnering with FloSports and FloCollege was a natural progression that will allow us to expand our audience, increase distribution and ultimately better position our student-athletes for success. The increased revenue will directly benefit our athletic departments and provide a strong foundation for continued growth and innovation.”
Added FloSports Senior Director Chris Keldorf: “The LSC is one of the most prestigious Division II conferences in the nation with a rich history that spans nearly a century; it will be a cornerstone of FloCollege at launch in October. The LSC also rounds out an enviable lineup of Division II and Division III conferences on FloCollege that we believe will grow interest and engagement in these often-underserved divisions.”
FloCollege will launch with 12 NCAA conferences in its portfolio including the Lone Star Conference (LSC), BIG EAST, Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Landmark Conference, New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC), Gulf South Conference (GSC), California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) with more on the horizon.
In total, the conferences represent more than 1,000 teams across men’s and women’s athletics from nearly 100 schools across the country with a significant footprint in the country’s top media markets including New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Dallas and others. Combined they will deliver close to 12,000 live games on FloCollege during the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The launch of FloCollege will coincide with the release of an updated FloSports connected TV app that will provide fans with the ultimate FloSports viewing experience on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV devices this fall. The updated app will feature enhanced personalization, discoverability, and streaming capability making it easier than ever for users to find and favorite the teams, games, and sports they love.
FloSports plans to invest more than $50 million dollars into FloCollege to support rights fees, production, content, product technology, and marketing. The direct investment in conference rights will help member institutions apply funding towards their own broadcast and production capabilities to further enhance the quality of coverage across all sports, ensuring parity and inclusivity.
FloSports college programming reached more than 38 million people in 2023 with more than 51 million live minutes watched for NCAA conference partner events.
