Veteran Media and Entertainment Executive Joins Leadership Team During Robust Period of Growth
Austin, TX — November 21, 2024 – FloSports, a global sports media company, has named veteran media and entertainment executive, Rob Steffens, as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With over 25 years of senior leadership experience in finance, operations, and general management, Steffens brings a wealth of expertise from renowned entertainment and media companies, Marvel Entertainment and Broadway Video.
In his role, Steffens will leverage his experience scaling companies, driving operational efficiency, and building iconic brands to steer FloSports through a significant period of growth. Known for his strategic acumen, relationship-building, and hands-on leadership, Steffens is well-positioned to support FloSports and enhance its position in the industry.
In the past year, FloSports has signed several pivotal rights agreements with the American Hockey League (AHL) for FloHockey and Wanda Diamond League for FloTrack. The company has also invested in a premier motorsports series alongside NASCAR champion, Kyle Larson, and sprint car driver Brad Sweet, with the Kubota High Limit Series, and launched FloCollege, a new platform featuring 12 NCAA partner conferences across DI, DII, and DIII. These investments come as FloSports continues to reach record audiences through its streaming, content, and social media channels.
“Rob has invaluable expertise and experience developing a worldwide brand, combined with a commitment to operational excellence and culture-building,” said Mark Floreani, Co-Founder and CEO of FloSports. “I’m confident that he will help us along the path to grow our sports and build a best-in-class product that our customers love.”
Steffens served a 20-year career with Marvel Entertainment, where he held several critical roles, including Executive Vice President of Operations, CFO, and Co-President. During his tenure, he played a key role in guiding Marvel through various growth stages, eventually leading to its $4.5 Billion acquisition by Disney. Following its sale, Steffens’ strategic, operational, and managerial contributions were instrumental in leading a successful post-merger integration into Disney. He was also instrumental in transforming Marvel from a publishing house and toy manufacturer with a healthy licensing business, into a multi-faceted global entertainment business and an industry leader in film, television, video games, and numerous other businesses, all built on Marvel IP. In between his time at Marvel, Steffens also served as the CFO at Broadway Video, where he delivered growth, optimized operations, and supported creative-driven initiatives.
“It’s an exciting time to join FloSports in the midst of a massive sea change in the sports media industry. Mark Floreani and the team here have done an exceptional job serving sports fans with a direct-to-consumer platform for nearly two decades and are committed to growing these sports for an increasingly engaged audience,” said Steffens. “I’m impressed by the tremendous talent in this organization, their commitment to our customers and I’m eager to utilize my experience to help them on this journey.”
Steffens lives in Austin with his wife Tiffany after relocating from Brooklyn, New York in 2020. He was born and raised in Chicago where he attended Loyola University before receiving his MBA at NYU. He is an avid live music fan and dog lover, which are both well-served in the Austin community.
